Christmas is full of traditions in our family and I love sharing special experiences with the kids. We already have a regular Christmas visit to Phipps Plaza, where we see Santa and ride the Pink Pig. This year, we added another tradition to the list: visiting Santa at Jeff Roffman Photography. But sometimes you just want to stay home and spend time together, and that’s what I’m talking about today.
One of my favorite traditions with the kids is baking cookies for Santa. We always do a “practice” round, which basically consists of Kenzie eating a bunch of icing and getting sprinkles everywhere. I mean, if you aren’t still finding Christmas sprinkles in the summer, did Christmas even happen? The kids love helping and they’re at the age where it isn’t as messy as it was a couple years ago. Or, I should say, Colton is that age. Kenzie is…well, Kenzie is Kenzie.
This year we teamed up with Matilda Jane for some amazing new cookie decorating clothes. If you didn’t know, Matilda Jane collaborated with Joanna Gaines. YES! This is their second line with the queen of all things farmhouse, and it’s even more amazing than the first collection because this one includes boys! I was so excited to see something Colton could wear with Kenzie and me. If you love Joanna Gaines as much as I do, it should be no surprise her eye for interior design translated into the most adorable clothes.
The prints and patterns are perfect for so many seasons. Kenzie will be wearing this dress and leggings for many seasons to come. My dress is a maxi, with pockets! It’s the most comfortable fabric and I love the color. It coordinated perfectly with the kids’ clothes. Oh, and Colton loves his new pants. Anything with an elastic waist is a win in my book (and in his). He’s comfortable and still looks adorable. The fabric Matilda Jane used for his shirt is so incredibly soft, which is a big deal to a 6-year-old. He’s all about the comfy.
If you haven’t tried Matilda Jane then now is the time! I’ve loved watched Kenzie grow up wearing these precious clothes. Their dresses also have the ultimate twirl factor which is a big deal to the queen of spin. If it won’t give her 360 degrees, she isn’t interested.
